Will Suriya Outcast Vikram in Ponniyin Selvan?

Suriya is often reported to be indulging in quite a bit of politics to grab opportunities. It is also said that Suriya is the de facto owner of Studio Green which is owned de jure by GE Gnanavel Raja. He is also reported to have tried to grab the opportunity of starring in Nanban and sought a very high price from Shankar and Gemini Film Circuit.

Suriya has prompted Mani Ratnam to think in a way that last time Raavanan has ended up in loss along with its Hindi version as both starred Vikram. The actor’s presence again in Ponniyin Selvan will not help matters, which is what Mani Ratnam is reported to be contemplating.

Suriya has a wide market in both Tamil and Telugu which has made Mani Ratnam think towards casting Suriya as it already has Mahesh Babu to draw the Telugu audiences. Casting Suriya will result in very good collections in both Tamil and Telugu.

As of now, the casting choice is Vijay, Vikram and Mahesh Babu but it seems Suriya will take Vikram’s place. Suriya showed interest at the right time to be cast in Ponniyin Selvan for which Mani Ratnam is likely to oblige. It could be remembered that Ayutha Ezhuthu which had Suriya in the lead was a failure. However, Suriya was not a star as he is now.
