2011 Cricket World Cup in theatres?

Although a request to screen the world cup matches in theatres in Chennai met with disapproval from the Producers’ Council last time, theatre owners are planning to push their luck again in an effort to receive approval from the Council for this world cup. They also have acquired interest of a private telecommunications firm to market the screening.

The 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup will take place between February and April 2011 and will be hosted jointly by India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The sporting event kick starts with the opening ceremony on February 17, 2011.
