Superstar Rajini, director Shankar duo's magnum opus movie "Enthiran : the Robot" collected more than 375 crore of rupees in India alone. If the overseas collection of 69 crore of rupess, as announced by Eros and Ayngaran, is added the gross collection of enthiran stands at 444 crore of rupees.
"While there is no official source for box office collections, Robot must have raked in at least 375 crore in the domestic market. 179 crore of net revenue for the producer(Sun Pictures) translates to around 375 crore of gross revenue across the market, that is the revenue of both the producer and the trade combined and this is a conservative estimate," says Ajay Vidyasagar, Chief Operating Officer(COO) of Sun TV.
With the help of brand Rajini Sun TV posted a 50% increase in revenues to 607.06 crore during the quarter ended December 2010. The company’s net profit rose 48% to 225.5 crore.
“It was Rajini’s formidable brand image that did the trick this quarter,” added Ajay Vidyasagar by saying that the company had spent 132 crore to make the film.
Enthiran has rewritten history by breaking all the records of Indian film industry by a huge margin. It collected 100 crore more than the second spot '3 Idiots'.
