K. Balachander got Dada Saheb Phalke Award

He was the man who introduced the most invaluable gems to Tamil cinema - Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Prakash Raj, Jayapradha, Vivek and several hundreds of actors! He is the recipient of five national awards and the director of several path-breaking and hit films. Yes, we are talking about our very own K Balachandar.

The director is all set to receive the highest honor of cinema, The Dadasaheb Phalke award which is annually given by the Government of India for lifetime contribution to Indian cinema. This award can be called as the Bharath Ratna of Cinema. Previously, the awards has been given to several prominent film personalities including Adoor Gopalakrishnan, D.Rama Naidu, Dev Anand to name a few.

K.Balachandar is the first Tamil film maker to win this award. The Tamil cinema fraternity is very proud to have a gem like K. Balachandar and tamil industry congratulates him for the honour received.
