Amy Jackson Romance With Illaya Thalapathy Vijay ?

It is now confirmed that Vijay will be directed by Gautham Menon in the year 2012 and he will use the Thuppariyum Anand script that he had approached Ajith with. This film will be shot mainly in foreign countries; therefore, Gautham will require a foreign actress to play the heroine.

With Amy Jackson playing Trisha’s role in the Hindi version of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaya, Gautham, who is directing the movie, has decided to cast her opposite the Ilayathalapathy, sources report.

Suriya Turns 36 Today!

Suriya turns 36 today! The star was born on July 23, 1975 in Chennai to actor Siva Kumar and Lakshmi. Suriya entered the film industry with Nerukku Ner in which he shared the screen space with Vijay in 1997. After a few years, he went on to play the second hero in Friends, once again with Vijay taking up the lead role.

The star’s break came in Nandha, a critically acclaimed film from Bala and since then Suriya has had some enviable roles which upped his star status. Pithamagan, Kaakkha Kaakkha, Ghajini, Ayan, Aadhavan, Singam, Raktha Charithra are just a few examples that show Suriya's versatility.

It is interesting to note that Suriya is one of the top stars in Kollywood that most Bollywood actresses want to share the screen space with.

Jiiva doing a direct Telugu film

Popular Tamil actor Jiiva, currently basking the success of his recent political thriller Ko (dubbed in Telugu as Rangam), will soon act in a direct Telugu film.

The actor confirmed this through Twitter stating: "Good news. I will be doing a direct Telugu film." Reportedly Jiiva has already started his preparations and is currently learning Telugu.

One of the busiest actors in Tamil, Jiiva has hand full of projects at the moment, with Nanban by Shankar, Mugamoodi by Mysskin and two forthcoming films with Gautham Menon and S.P. Jananathan.

Namitha angry with Sona ?

It seems the actress role played by Sona in 'Ko', which resembled Namitha a lot, has irked the latter. "I telephoned Namitha to know her reaction, but she did not attend my call," Sona was quoted as saying by a Tamil weekly.

She explained: "Post the release of 'Ko', many told me that my performance in the movie had a lot of resemblance to Namitha. So I called her up to know whether she is upset with me. But there was no answer from her."

"Later I SMSed her saying "Hope you are not angry with me", Sona reportedly said and added: "For that, Namitha replied - It's okay. Don't call me again. This made me to come to a conclusion that she is irked with my role."

Reassuring that the shoot of her production venture 'Bhagyaraj 2010' would restart soon, Sona added: "There was a break because the hero Premji Amaran became busy with 'Mankatha'. We are starting the shoot soon."

Selvaraghavan next with Arya?

It looks almost certain that Arya (Jammy) will be doing his next film for ace director Selvaraghavan.

Arya has not signed a single film this year and was waiting to sign new films after the release of Avan Ivan and Vettai. As of now, Arya has only to complete Lingusamy's Vettai which will be over by August middle.

The grapevine has it that Arya and Selva had met frequently in recent weeks. In fact Arya who was compering an award night in Hyderabad flew down to Chennai to attend Selva’s wedding reception.

Arya always on the lookout for 'good directors' has zeroed in on Selva. The film will be produced by PVP, the producers of Kamal Haasan's Viswaroopam, which was to be originally directed by Selva.

However another rumour doing the rounds in Tollywood circles is that Selva will start a Telugu film with Allu Arjun (Bunny) in November. Selva will start his next film after he completes his Dhanush project Irandam Ulagam. There are also rumours that Selva had impressed Anushka with a script and she has been roped into one of his projects.

Vikram & Director Vijay together again with UTV?

Kollywood is abuzz that Vikram and Vijay, the magic combo of Deivathirumagal are coming together to make another film very soon.  The shoot of the film will start once Vikram completes Suseenthiran's Rajapattai.

This time as per rumour mills they plan to make a "slick non-stop action entertainer" etched out of Matt Damon's The Bourne Identity sprinkled with Tom Cruise's Mission Impossible. Vijay's discovery Amy Jackson is likely to play the 'foreign agent' who falls for our hero.

The film will have all Vijay regulars like Nirav Shah, GV Prakash, Antony and will be shot under six months in foreign locales. UTV will produce this film which will be a summer 2012 Vikram's big release release.

Asin Pair with Mammootty?

After a brief gap, reigning queen Asin is reportedly making a return to her home industry Mollywood!

It is said that Asin will be the heroine opposite megastar Mammootty in his upcoming Mathilukalkkappuram, sequel to National award winning Mathilukal, directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan in 1990.

In Mathilukalkkappuram, she is essaying the character Narayani, immortalized by K.P.A.C. Lalitha in the original. Unlike K.P.A.C. Lalitha's Narayani, whose voice is only heard from the other side of the jail wall, Asin will make her on screen presence in the sequel. The shooting of the film will take place in Thanjavur. Mammootty's Play House is the producer.

Vijay's Velayudham Budget Rs 45 Crores ?

Aascar Films V Ravichandran, the producer of Vijay's Velayudham has decided to release it directly. The entire shoot of the film is over, except for a song which will be shot in a foreign location. The budget of Velayudham which was initially said to be Rs 35 Crore has gone haywire. Now the film when it reaches the theatres will cost Rs 45 Crore due to various factors like more number of shooting days, production delays and increased special effects and graphics cost. The film has been sold only Indian domestic only Kerala and Karnataka.

No distributor in TN is willing to touch it due to high cost. There are no big buyers in Tamil cinema after the recent political change of guard.  The best way out for Aascar films is to release directly to the theatres , on MG or deposit basis. Aascar Ravi has done it successfully when he made biggies like Dasavatharam and Anniyan. If all goes well, Vijay fans can look forward to Velayudham release in the last week of August.

Vandhan Vendran Audio Release Today!

Vandhan Vendran, starring Jiiva and Tapasee in the lead and directed by Kannan (former associate of Mani Ratnam), is ready and will reportedly grace theatres in August. The major highlight of the film is its picturesque locations. Arya, Jayam Ravi, S.A. Chandrasekhar and Bala will launch the music of Vandhan Vendran in Chennai on July 21, 2011.

Vandhan Vendran will portray urban Mumbai in a new light. The film was also shot in places where shootings haven't been permitted before, including the Bandra sea link, Gateway of India and Hotel Taj Mumbai. Jiiva plays the role of a struggling boxer who fights hard to achieve his goal. The actor has undergone some rigorous training for this film. Tapasee plays an architect.

Vijay New Getup in Nanban ?

Yes, you read it right. Although Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay is famous for rarely donning new looks or trying out different styles, it is said that the actor considered trying out a new avatar for his look in Shankar's multi-starrer, 'Nanban'.

However, he was unable to proceed with this new hairstyle due to his commitment to Jayam Raja's 'Velayudham' that is all geared up for an August release. This film is a commercial action-masala entertainer and sees Vijay opposite Hansika Motwani, with Genelia playing a television reporter. It showcases how a commoner is forced to don the role of a superhero to save humanity and his own family.

This look is said to have been a cool and funky one and the trial seemed to have impressed the whole crew, but Ilaya Thalapathi couldn't continue with it. However, we must note that Jiiva sports a whole-new-look for 'Nanban', with long kurta pajamas, hands filled with finger rings to each please a God and what not.

Who can ever forget the kind of changes Shankar brings in the look of each star for his films? What if Vijay couldn't sport a makeover through his hair style, through his wardrobe makeover, right from a backpack to some handsome young t-shirts, we can already see a young avatar of Ilaya Thalapathi from the pictures of 'Nanban', true to his role as a college student in this film.

Rowthiram audio release from today

The audio launch of Rowthiram is slated to be held this evening at Hotel Green Park in Chennai. The function is expected to begin at 6 pm. The film’s lead star Jiiva, producer RB Choudhury, Jithan Ramesh and several others are expected to participate in this event.

Rowthiram is produced by RB Choudhury’s Super Good Films and Gokul makes his debut as a director. Shriya Saran is the leading lady in this flick which also has Prakash Raj playing a very significant character. The movie is planned to be released next month.

7aam Arivu Audio Launch will release on July end ?

The music of director A.R. Murugadoss' 7aam Arivu, which has Suriya and Shruti Haasan in the lead roles, will be launched in Chennai by the end of this month. The director is currently busy with the post production works. Confirming this news, music director Harris Jayaraj tweeted, "7aam Arivu will be launched by the end of the month!" The story is said to revolve around a time machine which is brought to India by a scientist. The film is also being dubbed in Hindi and Telugu.

7aam Arivu is a sci-fi thriller in which Suriya plays a triple role: a circus artist, Buddhist monk and a scientist. Vietnamese stunt actor Johnny Tri Nguyen will play the baddie. Ravi K. Chandran handles the camera.

Vijay as Detective Officer in Gautham Menon film?

A couple of days back we have reported that Ilayathalapathy Vijay is all set to do a film with Gautham Vasudev Menon very soon. Now we are back with some interesting updates of the film.

Vijay is likely to play the role of detective officer who unravels a murder mystery in the backdrops of London. Gautham Menon has decided to shoot the film in Chennai and London as the story runs on the back drop of London. Music will be composed by A. R Rahman while cinematography will be handled by Manoj Paramahamsa. It looks like the story is very interesting as Vijay will be playing totally a new role in this yet to be titled film.

The film will move on floors once Gautham completes his next with Jeeva and Vijay completes his projects with Murugadoss and Seeman.

In fact this project was initially planned to take off with Ajith and Suriya but it didn’t happen due to some unknown reasons.

Though she shines like a star on Kollywood silver screen but the actress got lot of fanfare in Tamil for her outstanding performance and glamour.

She is none other than gorgeous Anushka who is currently waiting for the release of her next outing Deiva Thirumagal. The actress has shared the screen space with most of the top league stars in Tamil including Vijay, Suriya and Vikram. With Vijay she has done Vettaikaran, Suriya in Singam and Vikram in Deiva Thirumagal. After working all of them the actress shares something about each of them and also confesses that all these actors are unique in their own way.

Rowthiram to release on August 12?

Rowthiram which stars Jeeva and Shriya Saran in the lead roles will have a grand audio launch some time next week in Chennai.

According to the latest reports it is known that the film is likely to make the silver screen presence during the Independence Day weekend August 12, 2011. The film deals with patriotism and social welfare activities as the film’s lead star Jeeva plays the role of youngster who questions the system while Shriya will be seen in the role of a lawyer and also plays as his supportive lover. So this similarity made the filmmakers to think of the release during the Independence Day weekend.

Rowthiram is written and directed by debutant Gokul. R. B. Choudary is producing the film under the banner of Super Good films. Music is scored by debutant Prakash Nikki for this action and comedy entertainer.

Vijay Ready to Work With Gautham Menon ?

Vijay is all set to do a film with Gautham Menon, the maker of memorable movies like Kaakha Kaakha, Vaaranam Aayiram, and VTV. The star is currently busy with Nanban. Velayudham is also being readied for release. When he heard Gautham Menon's script he was floored and immediately agreed to be a part of the project once he wraps up work on pending projects.

Gautham Menon felt that the role was tailor - made for someone of Vijay's talents and he was delighted when he accepted. The ace director will be going ahead with his next project with Jiiva which is slated to commence in August. And when that is done he will begin filming Vijay's film.

The excitement among Thala Ajith and Ilayathalapathy Vijay fans in social networking sites has peaked over the audio launch of Mankatha and Velayudham respectively.

There was news among the Ajith fans that Mankatha audio launch would take place on July 18, but producer Dhayanidhi Alagiri denied it.

Similarly there was a lot of buzz when there was talk in the trade that Velayudham audio launch will take place on July 21. Here again, there is no official confirmation from the producer.

But the fans of the actors concerned are baffled and feel let down, as both the films have announced an August release.

The fans have a genuine concern as normally big star movies audios are launched a month before their theatrical release.

It helps to popularise the music of the film before release and helps to get an opening.

Meanwhile Sony Music which has got the audio rights of Mankatha and Velayudham were not willing to confirm the audio launch date.

A spokesperson said: "We have no idea about the audio launches of Mankatha and Velayudham. Why don't you ask the producers concerned?"

Jiiva's Vandhan Vendran Audio Release ?

Ace directors Mani Ratnam, Shankar and Bala will launch the music of Jiiva-Tapasee's romantic-action flick Vandhan Vendran in Chennai on May 21, 2011. The film is directed by Kannan, an associate of Mani Ratnam. Thaman is the music director. Director Kannan is confident that Vandhan Vendran will be a winner.

Jiiva plays the role of a struggling boxer who fights hard to achieve his goal. The actor has undergone some rigorous training for this film. Tapasee plays an architect. The team recently completed a 23-day schedule in the forests at Kerala-Karnataka border.

Ranjitha Give Complaint against Sun TV ?

Ranjitha, who was caught on camera in a compromising position with Nithyananda, has said that the person in the video is not her and her face has been attached by a modern technology called morphing.

The actress said that before telecasting the video clippings, Sun TV had demanded a huge sum from her for not airing it on their channel. She said that every detail pertaining to the case has been disclosed to the Commissioner of Police through a complaint.

Ranjitha said that she did not complain for the past one and half years because she knew there would be no action. With the change in the government, Ranjitha said that she is confident that she would get justice.

Kanchana Movie Release on July 22

The release of choreographer-turned-director Lawrence Raghavendra's Kanchana, the sequel to Muni, has been postponed to July 22, 2011. The film, which was to grace theatres this week, is delayed due to the release of Vikram's much hyped Deiva Thiirumagal. However, Anushka will not be a part of this project. Lakshmi Rai will play a prominent role in the film. Interestingly Sarathkumar plays the role of a transgender in Kanchana, produced by Sri Thenandal Films. Kanchana is a Tamil-Telugu bilingual and music is composed by Thaman.

Superstar Rajinikanth will back in Chennai on 13th ?

There is great news for all the fans out there who have been worrying themselves sick about Rajini's health. The Superstar will be back in Chennai on the 13th of this month. That is the day after tomorrow! He will be on Singapore Airlines and will reach Chennai by 10.45 pm. His family including daughter Aishwariya Dhanush will be returning with him.

All the prayers of the fans have worked it seems, for the doctors have given him a clean bill of health and said that he is fully recovered from his ailment. It is safe for him to return home. It is also expected that he will be back on the sets of Rana by September if not sooner.

Director Prabhu Solomon Launch "Kumki"

Director Prabhu Solomon and producers UTV and Lingusamy's Thiruppathi Brothers Film Media, launched Vikram Prabhu son of actor Prabhu with Kumki.

A press meet was arranged at a five star hotel in Chennai on Monday (July 11) afternoon to launch Vikram, grandson of the legendary actor Sivaji Ganesan.

Vikram is a level headed guy, and a hard worker. He has lost more than 10 kilos to do this coveted role.

In Kumki he plays a guy who trains wild elephants and domesticates them.

The film's tagline says it is 'a wild love story'. It has music by D Imman. Lakshmi Menon is going to play the heroine in the film.

Those present at the launch included producers Lingusamy and his brother Subash Chandra Bose, UTV's G Dhananjayan and director Prabhu Solomon among others.

The shoot of the film will be held in forest locations of Kerala, Karnataka, Thailand, AP and Andaman.

Vijay's Velayudham Audio Launch on July 21st

Vijay’s much-anticipated film Velayudham is set for its audio launch at the end of this month.Producer Aascar Ravi said, “Everything is going as planned and the movie has shaped up well. The climax portions have been canned in Kerala recently and there are only two songs left to shoot.” Sources add that on...e of the songs, in which Hansika will sizzle with Vijay, will be shot in an exotic foreign locale. Raja has been mulling over whether to shoot the other number, which will feature Vijay and his other heroine Genelia, in specially-erected sets in Chennai or abroad.

Aascar Films is known for its grand launches and audio events. There’s a surprise element, too, sometimes. Like when Ravi sprang a surprise and brought Hollywood actor Jackie Chan for the audio launch of his earlier production venture Dasavatharam.

Can we expect something similar for the Velayudham audio launch as well? Initial reports suggested that CM Jayalalithaa would be invited for the audio function, but Ravi said that he hadn’t thought about it yet.

Director Bala and Vishal team up again ?

Bala has done two films each with all the heroes he has worked with so far. Vikram (Sedhu and Pithamagan), Suriya (Nanda and Pithamagan), and Arya (Naan Kadavul and Avan Ivan) have done two films with Bala. Word is that Vishal will be following in the footsteps of these guys.

Arya convinced Bala to let Vishal do the squint - eyed cross dresser's part in Avan Ivan and the director though not entirely convinced agreed. But soon Vishal managed to impress Bala and they developed a good rapport. They have been talking about doing another film together. Bala has currently signed debutant Prasad for his next film so the project with Vishal might go on the floors sometime next year, if all goes well.

Vimala Raman Play a Powerful Character Billa 2 ?

Ajith and Chakri Toleti (of Unnaipol Oruvan fame) are all set to begin the most awaited Billa 2 in Hyderabad this weekend. The latest addition to the cast is Vimala Raman. The actress will reportedly play a small and powerful character in the film. This prequel is produced under the banner of Wide Angle Creations (led by George Pious and Suresh Balaje, son of producer-actor K. Balaje, who produced the original Billa with Rajinikanth in 1980) and presented by Mumbai based Sunir Kheterpal, CEO of IN Entertainment (India) Limited, part of the Hinduja Group. Popular model Huma Qureshi, who has done ads for many leading brands, will play the love interest of David Billa in this film.

Billa 2's technical team includes cinematographer Hemant Chaturvedi, editor Sreekar Prasad and music director Yuvan Shankar Raja. Other details about the cast and crew will be finalized soon.

Will Deepika Padukone Accept Vijay and A R Murugadoss’s Film ?

Deepika Padukone is very keen to start her account in Kollywood. She was on cloud nine when she bagged Rana opposite none other than Superstar Rajinikanth. To her bad luck, the Superstar was hospitalized on the first day of the film’s shooting (April 29) and thereafter left for Singapore to get his health back in order. “Technically, Deepika has barely shot for Rana,” says a source, adding, “She is eagerly awaiting news on Rajini sir’s well-being so that she can resume shooting with him.’’

Even as she waits for news on the Rana front, here comes another interesting bit of information.

One hears that the long-legged beauty may romance Vijay in A R Murugadoss’s next film that is likely to go on floors later this year. Our trade source in Kollywood insists that Deepika has shown a keen interest in the Murugadoss project. Earlier, it was being suggested that Sonam Kapoor is also one of the girls who has been shortlisted for this project. However, Sonam told CT that she had not received an offer. And at that point, Deepika was ruled out because her dates were committed to Rana.

However, now that there have been some date changes on the Rana front, Deepika may be in a position to do a second Tamil film as well. Who better than Murugadoss to helm the project?

Mankatha Shoot Completed ?

Thala Ajith and his team have wrapped up the shoot of Mankatha, directed by Venkat Prabhu, in Bangkok recently. The latest buzz is that the film will grace theatres on Independence day (August 15, 2011). According to sources, Ajith was very pleased with the way Mankatha has shaped up. The film has been shoot in Chennai, Dharavi slums in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangkok and Macau.

Mankatha, Ajith's 50th film, has a huge star cast which includes Trisha, Arjun, Lakshmi Rai, Anjali, Premji, Ashwin, Vaibhav, Mahant, Anjali, Andrea and others. Cloud Nine Movies has produced this action thriller which is rumoured to narrate the story of match-fixing sagas in international cricket matches.

KV Anand's super hit Ko was dubbed and released in Telugu as Rangam. Telugu star Mahesh Babu known fondly as the Prince saw the film and absolutely loved it. He caught up with KV Anand to convey his appreciation of the film. It was also suggested by Mahesh that they work together on a Telugu film.
