Music - Mysore
Mysore became the Cultural center to Karnataka over a century. Here not only Karnatic but also the Hindustani style of Music, was enclouraged. We have during this period eminent players of Veena like Bakshi Venkatasubbiah, Sambiya and Venktagiriappa etc. Prominent vocalists and composers flourished among many others. T.Chowdiah devised the seven stringed violin during this period.
Hindustani music was also acknowledged and encouraged. Prominent exponents of Hindustani music in Mysore were Nathan Khan, Moula Buz Barkatullah Khan (Sitar) etc.
Today Karnataka has the unique privilege of having both styles of music flourishing on its soil.
